David Rose: Our Hebrew Friend

My great grandfather Julian Rose was a world-famous Hebrew comedian in the early 20th century. He performed on the West End, at the Royal Variety Performance, on the BBC, and on Broadway in New York City. He was known to the public as 'Our Hebrew Friend'.

A century later, here I am in the same job, asking the same questions. What does it mean to be Jewish? What does it mean to be a comedian? And what does it mean to be both at the same time?

A show about history, legacy, and belonging. With some century old Jewish jokes thrown in for good measure.

"Cheekily transgressive... he's an accomplished comic" - Chortle, 2024
