Dr. Kara Kibara sells her services through a hybrid Ted talk-workshop transformation-improv- performance style as the best dating and relationship guru. She unintentionally reflects on her past to find out why she is still single herself as she offers advice on how to “manifest” love. She reveals how her Indigenous-Filipino-Asian-American Evangelical Christian upbringing has affected her perspective in dating and marriage. Featuring her unreleased original songs recorded when she was under a Columbia Records mentorship years ago, snippets of familiar 80’s and 90’s tunes as well as choreography and monologues that will leave the audience laughing, crying, and inspired. #40sandsingle is performed in different mediums: 1. Cabaret and variety - which is more late night and informal , one-woman theater or on-camera series and 2. Musical comedy. Each style are written with different scripts but with the same premise. The Cabaret version featuring 80's and 90's songs were performed at Don’t Tell Mama, Pangea NYC, Edinburgh Fringe festival 2024 and Art Basel.
